Water Softeners Pose No Problems For Septic Tanks
A small claims court judge in the Province of Quebec ruled that the installation of the water softener to the septic tank was done according to the laws and regulations of the Province. Many technical reports were provided, including WQA's research reports such as, "Potential Effects of Water Softener Use on Septic Tank Soil Absorption On-Site Waste Water Systems" convinced the judge that the type of sodium used in water softeners has no detrimental effect on concrete cement septic tanks. As well, the amount of water going to the septic bed is relatively insignificant and cannot be accounted for.
