Water Quality Guidelines available through Health Canada
An updated version of the "Summary of Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality" is now available. The new version of the guidelines contains an "operational guideline" for aluminum of 100 Hg/L total aluminum for conventional plants and 200 Hg/L for other plants. Softening or direct filtration are not directly mentioned.
A new guideline for Bromate is also included as an Interim Maximum Acceptable Concentration of Hg/L. This is now an important factor for treatment plants using ozone with even traces of bromide present. The guidelines for Coliform now specifically mentions E.Coli rather than Faecal Coliform. The summary can be viewed on the Health Canada website Click Here.
