CWQA Professional Development Program

PURPOSE

The Canadian Water Quality Association's (CWQA) Professional Development Program is designed to assist the public in readily identifying water quality improvement professionals who have demonstrated the knowledge and ability required to satisfy most water quality improvement requirements by taking a professionally developed educational program.  

The program tests and certifies an individual's knowledge in the water quality improvement field. It certifies that an individual has attained a generally accepted level of knowledge of water quality technologies and applications of industry products. Certification also means the individual is dedicated to promoting the highest principals of honesty, integrity and credibility as established in the CWQA Water Quality Improvement Industry Code of Ethics.

This program is also being offered for the following reasons:

• To upgrade the Canadian water treatment industry
• To obtain government/consumer recognition
• Access to program allowing opportunity to maintain certification

The Program tests and certifies only individuals; not dealerships, companies or other types of business entities. This program is separate from and should not be confused with the WQA Product Validation Program.

OBJECTIVES

• Continually improve the level of technical competency of industry personnel
• To establish minimum objective requirements against which an industry member can be measured for
• certification.
• To encourage compliance with the principals established in the Code of Ethics.
• To ensure that performance characteristics of industry products are accurately represented.
• To create an incentive for continued personal and professional improvement.
